Ingredients: 1½ lb beef stew meat, cut up small; 8 cup water; 4 potatoes, cut into small cubes; 1 onion, chopped; 1 quart tomatoes, peeled and chopped; ½ head cabbage, chopped; 2 tbsp sugar, heaping; 2½ cup ketchup; 1 tbsp cornstarch; 1 tbsp salt; 1 tsp garlic salt

In a large soup pot, boil the beef in the water for about 15 minutes. Skim off the fat.

Stir-fry the potatoes, onion, and cabbage until tender, then put them into the beef mixture.

Add the tomatoes, sugar, ketchup, salt, and garlic salt, and simmer about 1 hour.
