Ingredients: 2 cup elbow macaroni; 2 cup cheddar cheese, grated; 1 onion, chopped; 1 tbsp butter or margarine; garlic salt; ½ cup sour cream

Method

Sauté the chopped onion in butter or margarine until wilted, or slightly browned.
Boil the macaroni in salted water for about 10 minutes. Drain.

For a creamier version, stir the sour cream in with the macaroni immediately after draining.
In a greased baking dish, pour a thin layer of macaroni and top generously with cheese. Sprinkle some of the onions on top of the cheese and continue the process until the dish is full.
Top generously with onions and garlic salt and bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted throughout.
