Lentil Soup

A humble, brothy lentil-and-rice soup built on oil and tomato sauce and thickened with a little flour.

Ingredients

oil
1 can tomato sauce (Card just says "1 can" — can size isn't given.)
½ cup flour
1¼ cup lentils (Card says 1 to 1½ cups lentils; 1¼ cups is the midpoint.)
½ cup rice
2 quart water (Listed only in the directions on the card ("add about 2Q H2O").)

Method

Put the oil and tomato sauce in a pot.
Bring to a boil.
Stir in the flour.
Add about 2 quarts (1.9 L) water.
Add the lentils and rice.
Boil.

Lentils: the card gives a range (1 to 1½ cups) — use the larger amount for a heartier batch.
