Bacon, Cheese, and Ketchup

Rob Serves 4 · 4 open-faced sandwiches

A gleefully lowbrow open-faced sandwich — crispy bacon and a slice of cheddar on lightly toasted cheap white bread, finished with a generous drizzle of ketchup and baked just until the cheese melts and the ketchup starts to caramelize.

Method

From the family

  • Quantities were tightened up from the original loose version: figure about 2 slices of bacon and one slice each of bread and cheddar per person, with roughly 1 tablespoon of ketchup each; the amounts above make 4.
  • Best eaten hot from the oven.
